A coworker caught me staring off into space and asked if I was daydreaming. I told her I was writing. I was happy when she didn't bat an eye or look confused. Maybe she just expected writers are all like that.
Anyway.
I wonder if I have fewer problems with writer's block than most, and if that's true, if it's due in part because I have a day job still and have time during slow parts of the day to plan what I'm going to write next. If I'm not exhausted, I usually want to write as soon as I'm done with dinner. When I'm beat, I'll write a few sticky notes both real and virtual before I go to bed. Too often I've woken up the next morning knowing I had a plan or a great idea, and … nothing.
And the really fun part?
Sometimes when I start writing with a plan, it jumps sideways on me and turns out even better. How that happens, I don't know. I guess that's why I write fantasy.
I believe in magic.
